2008 Viognier Saone
This year's Saone is 100% Viognier, Montpellier clone, grown by Hugh Robinson in the Tuerong sub-region. The juice was fermented in old French oak Barriques using indigenous yeasts, resulting in a wine less overtly fruity and more complex. The wine was sulphured post primary to inhibit MLF and maintain freshness and vitality. It was then matured for a further 9 months with occasional lees stirring to increase complexity and mouth feel. The heat of the 2008 vintage has produced a wine with much more of the typical Viognier apricot character yet still well balanced with refreshing acidity and moderate alcohol. 150 cases produced.
