2009 Viognier Saone
This years Saone is 100% Viognier, Montpellier clone, grown by Hugh Robinson in the Tuerong sub-region. The juice was fermented in a mix of new French oak Puncheons and old Barriques using indigenous yeasts, resulting in a wine less overtly fruity and more complex. The wine was sulphured post primary to inhibit MLF and maintain freshness and vitality. It was then matured for a further 6 months with occasional lees stirring to increase complexity and mouth feel. This years wine displays aromatic peach and apricot characters with some spice, white flower, lavender and lanolin complexity. The palate is powerful without being heavy or cloying and finishes with fresh acidity.
